ConCourt rules on President’s powers regarding ministers

Pretoria Today       Wednesday, September 18, 2019
The Constitutional Court has dismissed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s appeal against a case asking for reasons behind a cabinet reshuffle with costs.

Ramaphosa wanted the highest court in the land to give clarity following a North Gauteng High Court ruling in 2017, ordering records of decisions made by the executive be made available if they are taken on review.

The court had ordered former President Jacob Zuma to disclose reasons for firing then Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas.

The matter was brought by the Democratic Alliance.
