Three armed suspects are on the scene after shooting a man during a brutal house robbery in Mpumalanga and threatening to put his grandson in the oven.
Police are still searching for the suspects, who attacked and killed the 51-year-old in his Witbank home on Wednesday.

"Police received a complaint of a shooting incident and went to investigate. When they arrived, they found the man's body lying in a pool of blood and gunshot wounds to his head," Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said in a statement.
"They went to his house and found his wife who had been brutally attacked and the house was blocked.

"He allegedly informed police that three armed men had entered and demanded money and threatened to put his grandson in the oven if they failed to comply. Then they attacked him after telling them there was no money."

The suspects seized seven guns and two sets of television sets before fleeing the woman's car, after which Suzuki Swift was discovered on the Kusulile road near the N4.
Anyone with information that can assist investigators is encouraged to contact Sergeant Lery Rangwaga on 072 737 2003 or call Stop Stop on 08600 10111.
