North West Health Minister Men Sambatha and Community Health and Social Development Committee Chairman Priscilla Williams visited the hospital to look into the case of a baby with burn injuries after being set on fire on Thursday.
The child and mother were transported to Pretoria on Thursday to seek specialized care at a private center, but the child died during the trip.
Sambatha has vowed to take action against those found to be careless and put the life of an infant in danger.
During his visit to the hospital, Sambatha also addressed several other patients' complaints. One patient complained of abuse by the nursing staff at the hospital.
In another hospital case, the administrative clerk reported that he ordered patients to return home without being seen by a doctor or nurse. Again, no action has been taken by the hospital management, Lekgethwane said.
"It is amazing that some of our health professionals are not concerned about the lives of our people at Mahikeng Regional Hospital. Such people must suffer the consequences of their negligence with patients. be prepared to face extreme action, "Sambatha said in a statement.
The hospital has faced past service delivery challenges. Last year, strikes in the region sparked chaos at hospitals and dispensaries across the state, and the South Military Health Service was put in place to provide essential services.
In March last year, City Press reported that patients would not be provided with their meat and meals, following a strike on bad contracts, due to better payments to retailers.
